Spiritual Questions

The experience of illness and disease is nothing less than a confrontation with our own mortality. To speak of the relationship between cancer and nutrition, then, is to speak of our human hunger for health and for wholeness, in the deepest spiritual sense.

Yet this hunger is for answers to questions that are simply beyond the scope of scientific medicine. What can the physician answer when we ask, "Why me? What is the ultimate meaning of my life in the face of suffering? How can I cope with my fears of the future? What can I hope for?" Before the person posing such questions, science is mute.

Where medical science is silent, however, the spiritual traditions of the world are eloquent. It is in this rich context that we place our discussions of nutrition and cancer.

To this end, we have asked you to tell us how the wisdom of the world's spiritual traditions might best be integrated into our website. If you have not as yet shared your thoughts with us, we ask you to do so now. Your response is critical to our work.
